Trust Consultancy & Development was contracted to conduct a research project mapping the needs of Syrian Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the Turkish province of Şanlıurfa (Urfa), given the high number of Syrians who reside in that province which makes it one of the priority locations to target with specialized services. The research identified barriers that face Syrian PWDs in their daily lives which affect their access to basic services on an equal basis with others. Moreover, an updated service mapping was produced to highlight the available services targeting PWDs in Urfa through public entities, NGOs, or community-led initiatives. The findings of this research will be used by Sened to plan for expanding its services to vulnerable populations in Urfa and advocate for necessary funds. In addition, the findings will be shared with other humanitarian actors operating in the area to inform decision-making regarding current and new programs and adapt their design and implementation to the needs of affected populations. To conduct this research, Trust used a mixed-methods approach through a desk review of secondary data, and primary data collection using KIIs and surveys.
