Impact Evaluation | Building Resilience Among Syrian Refugees in Istanbul

Project Presentation

Save the Children International has implemented the ‘Building resilience amongst Syrian refugees in Istanbul’ in collaboration with its local partner Support to Life in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul. The overall objective of the project was to contribute to an increased resilience of refugee and host community children and youth via psychosocial support, learning activities, access to basic services, and improved livelihood opportunities.

Trust Consultancy & Development was contracted to conduct an evaluation aimed to assess the achievement of results against planned outcomes and reasons for any potential shortcomings, as well as the overall impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. In addition, the evaluation assessed the outcomes and negative coping mechanisms measured at baseline to measure the changes the project caused. Trust designed a mixed methods approach using OECD/DAC criteria and data collection included 5 FGDs conducted with adults, caregivers, children, and youth, as well as 8 KIIs with project staff and stakeholders. Additionally, 357 surveys were conducted over the phone with project beneficiaries and 40 surveys were conducted with participants of the livelihoods project.
